Terms of Use

In short

MetaScalp is free alpha software. It may contain bugs. You use it at your own risk, you keep full control of your own API keys and funds, and nothing here is financial advice. Trading carries real risk of loss.

1. What MetaScalp is

MetaScalp is a free desktop trading terminal for Windows 10 and 11. It connects to cryptocurrency exchanges and other trading venues through their public APIs using credentials that you supply, and it displays market data and routes orders on your instruction.

MetaScalp is software. It is not a broker, not an exchange, not a custodian, and not an investment adviser. It does not hold your money, execute trades on your behalf without your instruction, or make trading decisions for you.

2. The software is in alpha

MetaScalp is currently in alpha testing. That means it is incomplete and under active development. It may contain bugs, it may behave unexpectedly, features may change or be removed, and it may fail at moments that matter to you, including during periods of high market volatility.

By downloading and using MetaScalp you acknowledge that you understand this and accept it.

3. Provided as is, without warranty

MetaScalp is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that market data displayed will be accurate or complete, or that orders will be transmitted, executed, modified or cancelled successfully.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developers and operators of MetaScalp will not be liable for any trading losses, lost profits, missed opportunities, data loss, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the software.

This includes losses arising from software defects, incorrect or delayed market data, failed or duplicated orders, connectivity problems, exchange downtime or exchange API changes.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

5. Trading risk

Trading cryptocurrencies, derivatives and other financial instruments carries a high level of risk and can result in the loss of some or all of your capital. Leveraged and margin trading substantially increases that risk, and you can lose more than your initial deposit on some venues.

Scalping and other high-frequency strategies are particularly demanding. They depend on execution speed, connectivity and correct configuration, all of which can fail. Past performance never guarantees future results.

Only trade with capital you can afford to lose. If you are unsure, seek advice from a licensed professional in your jurisdiction.

6. Not financial advice

Nothing produced by MetaScalp, including the software, this website, the blog, the documentation, the Academy materials and any communication from the team, constitutes investment, financial, legal or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument.

All trading decisions are yours alone, and you are solely responsible for them.

7. Your API keys and your funds

API keys that you enter into MetaScalp are stored locally on your own machine and encrypted using your operating system's credential store. Orders are sent directly from your computer to the exchange. MetaScalp servers do not receive, store, or proxy your keys, your orders or your funds.

You remain responsible for how you configure those keys. We strongly recommend that you never enable withdrawal permissions on an API key used with any third-party software, including this one, and that you restrict keys by IP address where your exchange supports it.

You are responsible for the security of your own device. Software running on a compromised machine cannot protect your credentials.

8. Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for complying with the laws and regulations that apply to you, and with the terms of service of every exchange you connect.
  • You confirm that you are of legal age to trade in your jurisdiction and that doing so is lawful where you live.
  • You are responsible for verifying every order before you submit it, and for monitoring your open positions.
  • You must not use MetaScalp for market manipulation, for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that breaches an exchange's rules.

9. How MetaScalp is funded

MetaScalp is free to use and has no subscription or paid tier. It earns revenue through exchange broker and referral programmes: when you register with an exchange through a MetaScalp link, or trade using its broker identifier, the exchange pays MetaScalp a share of the trading fees you were going to pay anyway.

This does not increase your trading costs, and it does not change the fees the exchange charges you. We disclose it because you should know how the software is paid for. It also means the exchange links on this site are referral links.

10. Third-party services

MetaScalp displays data from, and connects to, third-party venues and services, including cryptocurrency exchanges and embedded charting from TradingView. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices, and we do not control them, guarantee their availability, or accept responsibility for their content, accuracy or conduct.

11. Intellectual property

The MetaScalp name, logo and terminal software remain the property of their owners. You may use the software for your own trading. You may not resell it, redistribute modified builds, or present it as your own product. The MetaScalp SDK is published separately under its own open-source licence, which governs its use.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the software develops. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Continuing to use MetaScalp after an update means you accept the revised terms.

13. Contact

Risk warning. Trading cryptocurrencies and leveraged products carries a high risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. You can lose some or all of your capital. MetaScalp is software, not a broker or an adviser, and nothing on this site is investment advice. Past results do not predict future results.
